The smoky skies don't appear to be going anywhere anytime soon. The air quality alert issued Wednesday August 2 by the National Weather Service and the Washington Department of Ecology has been extended until Noon on Wednesday August 9.

Washington Counties within the Air Quality Alert Include: Adams, Asotin, Chelan, Douglas, Ferry, Garfield, Grant, Lincoln, Pend Oreille, Okanogan, Spokane, Stevens, and Whitman. Some Communities included are: Omak, Twisp, Winthrop, Wenatchee, Chelan, Republic, Colville, Spokane, Pullman, Ritzville, Moses Lake, Ephrata, Pomeroy, and Clarkston.

Smoke from wildfires in Eastern Washington, British Columbia, and Montana is expected to affect central and Eastern Washington.

Children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory illnesses are most at risk of serious health effects. If you experience respiratory distress, you should speak with your physician.
