Ammonia leak triggers emergency repsonse

A leaking ammonia tank at the former Tree Top facility in Cashmere triggered a shelter in place order on Sunday within a half-mile radius near the plant at 210 Titchenal Road in Cashmere.

Chelan County Emergency Management asked residents in the area to stay indoors; close and seal doors and windows; turn off air conditioning or other air circulation systems.  The order was lifted about an hour later at 4pm after the leak was repaired.

Highway 2 through Cashmere was briefly closed after the leak was first reported but reopened a short time later.  No injuries were reported.
