WENATCHEE - The Apple STEM Network received a $110,000 implementation grant from Washington STEM to support their plans to advance student access to science, technology, and math education and career opportunities.

The Apple STEM Network received a planning grant from Washington STEM last fall to undertake an intense review and planning process to ally local resources and efforts from K-12, higher education, government, community organizations and private partners towards strengthening STEM learning and opportunities in the greater Wenatchee area.

With the implementation funding, the Apple STEM Network will launch efforts to: expand project-based learning opportunities, support students in STEM college and career pathways, support educators taking on STEM challenges in their classrooms and grow the regional STEM workforce.

Wenatchee Valley College will continue to serve as the back-bone organization and fiscal agent for the Apple STEM Network, and will share the leadership role this year with the Greater Wenatchee Area Tech Alliance (GWATA). GWATA’s Executive Director, Jenny Rojanasthien, will serve as a co-director alongside planning Director, Dr. Sue Kane.

Washington STEM will fund 9 additional regional networks around the state. “As one of the 10 regional networks affiliated with Washington STEM, we have incredible support for putting our plans into motion,” Explains Dr. Sue Kane, “We have resources all over the state from which to draw inspiration, experience and guidance and we are just as excited to share some of our great success stories with those communities.”
