The combined unemployment rate of 4 percent for the Chelan Douglas labor market last month was the lowest jobless figure ever recorded in June since electronic record keeping began in 1990.

Regional labor economist Don Meseck says private health services and local government were among the job sectors that lead to the improved employment picture.  Meseck told NewsRadio 560KPQ the housing market is employing many more workers in Chelan and Douglas County compared to a year ago....

There were about 13-hundred more people working in June compared to the same month a year ago which reduced the year over year unemployment rate by 1.1 percent.

The Chelan County June jobless figure stood at 3 point 9 percent, Douglas County at 4 point 3 percent and Grant County at 4 point seven percent.
