Fifty firefighters from Chelan County Fire Districts 1, 6, 7, and 8, along with Douglas County Fire Districts 2 and 4, responded to a blaze last night at the Phillippi Fruit Company. The fire alarm came in around 8:25 from the 1900 block of Fifth Street in Wenatchee. The incident involved a packing shed in which the roof collapsed. Chelan County PUD cut electricity to over 650 customers so firemen could battle the blaze. They stayed on scene until 2:20 a.m. this (Saturday) morning to make sure no embers remained. There are no injuries reported and no cause for the blaze given at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
