The Chelan County Sheriff' Brian Burnett issued an apology after a Facebook post meant to go on a personal page ended up shared to the Chelan County Emergency Management Facebook page instead. The post could be interpreted as advocating violence against protesters and featured a meme depicting a vehicle running people over with a disturbing message. Sheriff Burnett says they're making changes so that a similar mistake is not made in the future and that they hope the public will continue to follow the Emergency Management page during emergency situations.

The reaction on Facebook had been vigorous with over 600 comments as of Tuesday morning ranging from understanding the post was a mistake or error in judgment to others expressing outrage that a public servant would hold those views or that employee should be terminated.  Many comments were not satisfied with Burnett's response but the Sheriff  has told reporters the employee will not be fired and said the post was "in poor taste"  He indicated procedural changes will be implemented to prevent future mistakes of this nature.
