A moose was seen roaming through the streets of Wenatchee Wednesday. Mike Jewell with the Department of Fish and Wildlife says it probably won't be the last.

"Moose have a tendency to move around a lot so it's not uncommon to see them in the Wenatchee area or frankly anywhere around the Columbia Basin. Moose sightings are becoming more and more frequent and it's just because our population is growing and they're spreading out into other areas."

Jewell says they were able to locate the moose and safely guide it out of the urban area and into a more natural setting.

If you see a moose, or any wild animal, Jewell says play it safe.

"We certainly encourage everybody; give them their space, give them their distance. Don't put yourself in any situation that makes the animal feel vulnerable and therefore want to defend itself."

Jewell did not confirm a second moose sighting, but there were several reports of two.
