Moses Lake School Bond Barely Passes On Final Count
They say every vote counts and with a razor thin margin of yes votes, the $135-million Moses Lake School construction bond has passed.
The final tally of 42 additional ballots put the issue just over the required 60% approval in time for the results to be certified Friday. The construction bond was 4 votes short of the mark as of Feb. 18th but the final count shows approval at 60.03% or just three votes over the threshold for passage. There is a deadline of 5pm Tuesday to challenge the results and force a recount.
Supt. Michelle Price told the Columbia Basin Herald “This is about our kids, and the future of our community"
The district plans to add a second high school and new elementary campus and refurbish the current Moses Lake High School.
