Local Rotarians are celebrating the 30th anniversary of Wenatchee native Dr. Ed Cadman’s term as President of Rotary International. They set up a tent this morning in front of the NewsRadio 560 KPQ studios, 231 North Wenatchee Avenue, and took donations totaling $636. With matching grants, that amounts to more than $2,500. It’s all to help eradicate polio, one of Rotary’s main objectives under Cadman’s leadership. The Gates Foundation matches all donations two for one. A Wenatchee Rotarian ,who remains anonymous is matching all the money raised today, so this means for every dollar given, four dollars will be donated for polio vaccines.  Just 60 cents pays for enough vaccine for one child, so Wenatchee Rotarian Pete Van Well estimates over 12,500 children will benefit from the fundraising effort.  You can donate online at StopPolioNow.org
