Two Mattawa men die in weekend crashes

A two-car accident Sunday about 4:00am claimed the life of a Mattawa man. The State Patrol reported 36 year old Victor Martinez-Ibarra was a passenger in a vehicle that was struck when another crossed the center line on SR24 about 14 miles west of Othello.  Martinez-Ibarra was pronounced dead at the scene. The Washington State Patrol is still investigation the accident and charges are pending.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office says alcohol and speed were contributing factors in a fatal crash 4:30pm Saturday afternoon east of Mattawa on Road 24 Southwest.  The Sheriff's office siad 28 year old German Jimenez Salcedo was killed when his pickup truck veered off the highway and rolled, bursting into flames and starting a small brush fire.  The Grant County Sheriff's Office Motor Traffic Unit is investigating.
