Eastmont School District confronted two safety threats Monday.  Superintendent Garn Christensen said one incident involved a report that a student had brought a gun to the high school. School administrators responded immediately with law enforcement and determined the threat was not substantiated.  Christensen said Eastmont and many local school districts promote the Safe Schools program, which encourages people to report threats if they hear or know something that could prevent a tragedy

Administrators also foiled a plot to hack the computer network including a plan to access user accounts. Superintendent Christensen said after receiving a tip, administrators, the Eastmont Technology Department and law enforcement determined the threat was real.

Christensen says the responsible students were identified and law enforcement is working with the school officials to determine appropriate action including criminal charges.
