At 6:30 p.m. the American Red Cross will open a wildfire evacuation shelter in Bridgeport, WA for evacuees of a wildfire in Douglas County. Anyone needing shelter or assistance due to the fire can go to:

Evacuating residents are encouraged to bring the following for each member of their family: prescription and emergency medication, extra clothing, pillows, blankets, hygiene supplies, important documents and other comfort items. Additionally, special items for children and infants, such as diapers, formulas and toys, should be brought, along with other items for family members who may have other needs.

A brush fire near milepost 125 has forced the closure of SR 17 from Leahy Junction to the Mansfield turnoff. Level 3 evacuation notices are being issued for homes east of Rd. "K" NE and south of Hwy. 17. The fire was first reported about 1pm by a sheriff's deputy burning on both sides of Hwy. 17 between Hays Road. and Road. “K” North East. Crews from both Douglas and Chelan counties are on scene

Crews are closing down SR 17 from Leahy Junction to Bridgeport because of a brush fire near milepost 125.  Level 1 evacuation notices have been issued to those within a three mile radius of the fire.

So far it's just sagebrush and grass that is burning. No structures are being threatened at this time. Crews from both Douglas and Chelan counties are on scene. Washington State Patrol is on scene for traffic control.
