US 2 Through Pine Canyon Closed

The Washington Department of Transportation closed US 2 through Pine Canyon between Orondo and Waterville Thursday night. Crews working on the emergency rock slope found a mass that could be aggravated by the rain and temperatures.

A mitigation plan is being implemented to get the highway reopened as soon as possible. A specialty contractor will be on site working on the problem.

The highway will be closed until further notice. The alternate route between East Wenatchee and Waterville is Badger Mountain Road.
