The nonprofit group Sustainable NCW is hosting it's annual Earth Day Fair at Pybus Market in Wenatchee on Saturday, a day after the actual Earth Day takes place across the world on Friday, April 22.

The gathering started with a handful of people in attendeance in 2018, but grew to more than 1,000 last year.

Betsy Dudash with Sustainable NCW says the get together is held for a purpose.

"The message is basically celebrate the earth and learn about things we can do as individuals to be more sustainable, and make more positive choices in our lives," said Dudash.

The Earth Day Fair at Pybus Market takes place Saturday from 10am-2pm with 31 organizations and several vendors.

A mission of Sustainable NCW is to promote environmental resposibility by educating and inspiring people to live more sustainable lives.

Dudash says environmental technology will be on display. "If my new electric bike arrives, I’ll be taking that and showing it off," Dudash said. "Lots of different things to address different areas of how we can all live more sustainably."

This year marks Sustainable NCW’s fourth time hosting the fair, which is sponsored by Chelan County PUD, Link Transit, The Nature Conservancy and Waste Management.

The fair's foot print within the market grounds will include the South Plaza, the Terrace and the Event Room.

Family-friendly activities returning this year include the chance to check out one of Link Transit’s electric buses and Plug In NCW's different models of electric vehicles and electric yard equipment.

Other organizations will be sharing info about:

– biking in the Wenatchee Valley

– how to get involved with gleaning fresh produce for local food banks

– information on sustainable animal agriculture and regenerative farming

– firewise information on forest health and fire adaptive communities

– Eastmont Key Club will be accepting both gently used and worn out shoes for donating and

recycling

– recycling experts will share how to recycle right and offer tips of what’s really recyclable, including a demo of Sustainable NCW’s brand new recycling directory, the Waste Wizard
