Many folks will be spending the holiday weekend in the great outdoors.

Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest Public Affairs Officer Robin DeMario says this is one of their busiest weekends and the campgrounds are expected to be full.

"If camping in dispersed areas please pack home your trash. Unfortunately many people are leaving garbage in the National Forest. Also they're leaving abandoned campfires. Please make sure your campfire is completely extinguished and cold to the touch before leaving your campsite."

Fireworks are prohibited in the National Forest as well.

DeMario says it's important to have a backup plan if a campground you want to stay at is full.
