Body of Missing Moses Lake Woman Found
The body of 30-year-old Yanira Cedillos has finally been recovered.
Cedillos has been missing since disappearing in Moses Lake March 4th.
The Moses Lake Police Department said detectives used updated data from the suspect's cell phone to pinpoint a remote area off of Highway 12 in Walla Walla County Thursday.
"Within just a short amount of time, we're talking minutes, there were able to find Yanira laying in a sleeping bag covered by limbs and leaves," said Moses Lake Police Chief Kevin Fuhr.
Detectives were initially unable to confirm the remains were Cedillos, but the Spokane County Medical Examiner positively identified the body as hers Monday following an autopsy.
27-year-old Juan Gastelum has already been charged in Grant County with second-degree murder and second-degree rape. He is being held in the Umatilla County Jail in Oregon on $1 million bail.
"We already have a warrant for the suspect. The next step is to get him back to Washington State, get the case set for trial and then prosecute (Gastelum) for his crimes."
Gastelum was arrested in his hometown of Hermiston after Cedillos went missing while celebrating her birthday March 4th at a Moses Lake casino. Detectives believe Gastelum murdered Cedillos in her apartment shortly after picking her up that night.
