Chelan County Holding Small Generator Hazardous Waste Collection Event

Chelan County Public Works is hosting a Small Quantity Generator collection event March 3rd for small businesses looking to get rid of hazardous waste.

PIO Jill Fitzsimmons says the deadline to register is February 24th.

"Most of our small business know that these are by appointment. They have to pre-register because it's very important that they fill out the application listing what sort of hazardous waste that they have so we can be prepared."

Fitzsimmons says the event is only available to companies that are considered Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generators.

"That means that you only accumulate up to 2,200 pound of hazardous waste per year at your place of business."

Fitzsimmons says waste that they'll accept include things like oil, pesticides and some flammables.
