Chelan County Sheriff's Deputies and Search and Rescue were called out twice Sunday, including once at 1:00 a.m. to help hikers.

Sgt. Kent Sisson with Emergency Management says the overnight call came from two hikers who weren't prepared.

"People aren't paying attention to weather forecasts and the fact that there is quite a bit of snow up in the Enchantments right now. They had gotten within about four miles of the Snow Lakes Trailhead and called 911 when they got cell service. They said they were hypothermic and one of them felt like they were hallucinating and having issues."

A team escorted them out of the wilderness to the trailhead.

Sgt. Sisson says the other was at the Stuart Lake trailhead with someone who also wasn't prepared for the inclement weather.

"Neither were actually life threatening in the end, but they could have been. Especially if those girls hadn't made it to cell service and had just given up on the trail. That could have definitely been a bad situation."

He says it's important to check the weather and be prepared for all conditions, particularly at this time of year.
