The Chelan County Sheriff's Office is warning residents that another phone scam has started to hit the region.

This one works when a person receives a call from someone claiming to be from the Cashmere Valley Bank fraud department.

They then claim that your account has been compromised and that there has been a charge in China.

They request the three digit code on the back of a bank card and then urge the person to purchase $15,000 in gift cards at Target.

The calls appear to be coming from a Michigan phone number.

Deputies say do not provide personal financial information over the phone or follow any of these other instructions.
