The drop-off brush yard at the Chelan Transfer Station will be closed for a week beginning Thursday.

Chelan County Public Works PIO Jill FitzSimmons says the site will be closed October 1st through 7th so staff can chip the large brush pile that has accumulated there.

"This happens most years." explained FitzSimmons, "This is something we have to do when that brush pile gets very large and right now that brush pile is very large out there."

The rest of the transfer station will be open normal hours.

When the brush yard re-opens October 8th, wood chips will be available for free to the public. When picking up woodchips, the public is asked to please bring a shovel, gloves, and other necessary equipment to load the material into your vehicle.

The public is also reminded that the Chelan Transfer Station will switch to its winter hours on Thursday, closing an hour earlier. Hours will be 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Tuesday through Saturday from October 1st through April 30th.
