The Chuweah Fire near Nespelem is well on its way to being under control.

Roland Emataz with the response team says all evacuation notices have been canceled and all road closures are reopening Tuesday.

"Things are looking really, really good," said Emetaz. "We still have a lot of work to do with mop up and strengthening the lines, but it's looking very good."

The Chuweah Fire is also being handed over to a team from California - California Team 10 - that's already managing the Summit Fire in eastern Washington.

Emetaz says the change is another positive sign for the Chuweah Fire, which is 65 percent contained at about 37,000 acres.

It's previously been handled by a team of 372 personnel, who have dealt with fire causing fuels in the form of brush, timber and short grass.

The optimistic outlook for the Chuweah Fire is not a surprise as it was projected to be under containment last Friday. It originally started on July 12th.
