The Washington State Department of Ecology says the source of the oil sheen on the Columbia River earlier this month came from Coleman Oil. The company worked with DOE and federal officials to excavate their Wenatchee site and discovered leaking pipes that had begun to saturate the soil. Samples of the oil from Coleman and the River matched. Bob Coleman of Coleman Oil said they, "Deeply regret that there was a release to the environment that appears to have originated at our Wenatchee facility. We will work diligently to contain and eliminate the release, in continued cooperation with federal, state, and local agencies.”
