December Unemployment Up in North Central Washington

The state Employment Security Department released the county unemployment numbers for January Tuesday.

Chelan County's rate was 6.9% while Douglas County was at an even 7%.

Both are increases from November when the two-county area was at 6.6%.

They're also significantly higher than was the case in December of 2019.

Grant County's unemployment rate was 7.9% with Okanogan County at 8%.

Asotin County was the only one in the state below 5% for December.
