As the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19, commonly known as coronavirus, near 75-thousand worldwide, scams playing off of peoples' fear have appeared.

Tyler Russell with Better Business Bureau Northwest and Pacific said the most common scam usually begins after masks run out down the street and on Amazon.

"Unfortunately, phony online stores about. Especially when an item is in high demand." explained Russell, "Some sights may even take your money and send you to low-quality or counterfeit masks as well."

Tips for avoiding counterfeit breath masks include evaluating the claims of the medical product before you buy, making sure the online store has working contact info, or simply purchasing straight from the producer.
