A small brush fire northeast of Leavenworth is forcing a Level 1 (Get Ready) evacuation notice along all of Eagle Creek Road.

Chelan County Fire District 3 PIO Annie Schmidt said the fire began near the 10200 block of Eagle Creek Road just before 2:00 pm Monday. It was first observed at 1/4 acre but has since grown to 5-7 acres as it moves through dry fuels in steep terrain.

"We're not quite done with fire season yet," said Schmidt.

The cause is undetermined. Help has come from Chelan County Fire Districts 1, 6 and 9, Cashmere Fire Department, the U.S. Forest Service and the Department of Natural Resources, as well as a helicopter. The Chelan County Sheriff's Office is also providing support.

Firefighters have surrounded the perimeter of the Eagle Creek Fire with fireline and will continue working into Monday night to make sure it's secure. Patrols will also keep an eye on the blaze.

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources will take command of the fire Tuesday.
