The East Wenatchee City Council will soon begin it's search to replace the council seat vacated by Jerrilea Crawford after her recent election to mayor.

Mayor Crawford said they will start the search process in the next couple of weeks. The council has 90 days from the start of 2020 to appoint a new council member.

"Hopefully there is people interested in serving in local government." Crawford stated, "It's really a satisfying role to play in the community. They can make a big difference. So I'm excited to welcome someone else up to council and get them engaged."

Applicants must live within the city limits and the term will expire at the end of 2021.

"I think the most successful candidate will be someone who is already engaged in the community and is looking for ways to give back." added Crawford, "It's a great opportunity to be passionate about something and bring it forward and make a difference. So anyone who has a passion for East Wenatchee and wants to be engaged and make a difference would be a good fit."

The city hopes to post an application and notice by January 15th. The application window will be two weeks, ending January 29th.

The city council will enter into an executive session February 4th to review applicants, with interviews tentatively set for February 14th.

If all goes well, a motion to appoint their candidate to council will occur at the council's February 18th meeting, with the new council member starting March 3rd.

Those looking for more information are asked to contact the city clerk.
