Investigators Looking into Suspicious Package that Contained White Powder

Investigators are looking into the origin of a suspicious package that forced East Wenatchee police to lock down part of the strip mall on Grant Road and Eastmont.

Assistant Chief Erik Hampton says an employee at Mail It Your Way received an envelope that had white powder coming out of it.

"Police responded and we locked the place down." explained Hampton, "(The employee) was decontaminated by the fire department. Part of the State Patrol's Hazmat Team showed up, went in and collected the package."

The package has since been sent to the state crime lab. Investigators believe its very possible the powder is some sort of drug.

The owner of the business was then shown how to properly clean the area. Hampton added there is no remaining danger to the public or any patron of Mail it Your Way.
