The Washington Department of Labor and Industries says that homeowners who have had property damaged by wildfires should be on the lookout for scammers who might take advantage of the situation.

They might offer to repair a building or home, or even rebuild it.

L&I is recommending getting at least three bids from contractors, verify their license on the departments website, beware of red flags such as asking to be paid in cash or asking that a check be made it to someone other than the business, and don't pay until the job is done.

You can see a full list of their recommendations on their website.
