Motorcycle daredevil and Ephrata native 28-year-old Alex Harvill died Thursday morning after a failed practice jump on his motorcycle.

Grant County Sheriff's PIO Kyle Foreman said Harvill, who was set to attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest motorcycle ramp jump at the Moses Lake Airshow later in the day, came up short in his practice jump, slamming into the front facing of his landing ramp.

"He was transported to Samaritan Healthcare in Moses Lake where he later died." stated Foreman, "The Grant County Coroner's Office now has care of Alex's body and Coroner Morrison's staff will conduct an autopsy tomorrow to determine cause of death."

The practice jump was a distance of 150 feet while the would-be record-setting jump would have been at least 351 feet.
