The Miss Washington Competition, originally scheduled for June 26 and 27th, has been postponed until June of next year, effectively canceling this year's event.

The move was in response to a similar postponement of the 2020 Miss America Competition.

In addition, the Miss Washington's Outstanding Teen competition, initially scheduled for this past Memorial Day, was postponed until next May.

Miss Washington Executive Director Peggy Miller said in a statement, "...decisions and recommendations of this significance were made in light of concern for the health and safety of our candidates, volunteers, sponsors, and partners, as well as family and friends who might attend our state program events."

Next year will be the 100th anniversary of the Miss America Competition.
