Firefighters from three agencies responded to a wildland fire reported near Lake Lenore off SR 17.

Grant County Fire District 7 Lt. Corey Hendricks says it started near a shooting range on a steep cliff side a little after 7:00 p.m. Saturday.

"It was wind driven, though we're not sure exactly what the cause was. That's currently under investigation. It ended up burning about 40-50 acres."

Crews from Ephrata Fire and Grant County 13 assisted in fighting the blaze.

It took about 3.5 hours to clear the scene.

Hendricks says there was approximately 35-40 people who responded and it was a phenomenal example of interagency teamwork.
