North Central Washington Libraries is celebrating at bounce-back year after a challenging 2020.

Communications Manager Amanda Brack said that patrons checked out, downloaded and streamed more than 700,000 books, movies and other materials last year. The library district kept its doors open for all but three weeks of 2021.

"In 2020 we definitely saw a decline in use, obviously, because our libraries were closed." explained Brack, "Folks couldn't come in and check out materials."

2021's top fiction checkout was 'The Four Winds' by local author Kristin Hannah, while Caste: 'The Origins of our Discontent' led in non-fiction.

The most requested audio book was 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone' by J.K. Rowling.
