Oroville Girl Dies in Car Accident

A 9-year-old Oroville girl died in a car crash just south of the town Monday night.

The Washington State Patrol says a 2004 Subaru Legacy was being driven by 19-year-old woman heading northbound on Highway 97 when she failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway and went into the ditch, rolled and came to a stop in a private driveway.

The child was declared dead at North Valley Hospital. She was wearing her seatbelt.

Neither drugs nor alcohol were involved and no charges will be filed.
