Senator Maria Cantwell announced in a press release Monday that Pangborn Memorial Airport will be receiving over $18 million in FAA grant money from the CARES Act.

Regional Port Authority Director of Airports Trent Moyers said he is waiting for an official grant offer later this week that will specifically address the details behind what the money can be spent on.

"There's things that you can and can't do with (the grant money), and those are the specifics that will get laid out later this week." Moyers explained, "It's considered airport revenue, so it can be spent things that you can generally use airport revenues for. In other words it can't be spent outside of the confines of the airport. It couldn't be spent on a port project say in Cashmere or something like that."

Moyers stated capital projects could be included as an allowable use of the grant money.

"You look in any direction and I'm sure we can find something where needs are, from improving reliability to expanding air service and pavement maintenance." Moyers continued, "There are a number of things we could be looking at. A lot of needs out here."

In total, $310 million in federal funding is being distributed to 62 airports across Washington state.
