A Tactical Response Team is being credited for bringing a suspect into custody after a three-hour stand-off in Royal City Tuesday afternoon.

The high-level response team was called in after officers failed to get a person suspected of felony harassment and domestic violence to surrender.

Police say two flash bangs producing booms that could be heard in downtown Royal City were used during negotiations to distract the suspect.

Officers from as far away as Quincy and Moses Lake were called to the scene, as were Grant County deputies.

Royal City Police Chief Rey Rodriguez originally responded to a call of threats with a knife.

Chief Rey Rodriguez developed probable cause of felony harassment, domestic violence after arriving on the scene.

The decision to call in the Tactical Response Team was made after efforts to bring the suspect out were not successful. Police say they also considered the severity of the crime when calling in the special team.
