The county has hired a travel and tourism marketing company to study the strengths, needs and gaps in the county's tourism industry.

The meeting Wednesday morning will bring together the tourism directors of Wenatchee, Chelan County, and the State of Washington.

Chelan County will soon be allocating its latest round of lodging tax grants. The funding is made available biannually to groups and municipalities seeking assistance with capital projects or capital improvement projects that will help in attracting overnight visitors to the county...

Lodging tax dollars will be used to finance the projects.

The awards come at the recommendation of the Chelan County Lodging Tax Advisory Committee which reviewed this year’s applications and interviewed some of the finalists.

The money is awarded based on a number of factors, such as whether the event will increase tourism and convention activity or boost overnight stays and retail sales in the county.
