Port commissioners this week signed off on a plan to shore an additional 173 acres for about $8.5 million.

A 45-lot single family home development in Malaga has already received county approval, despite vocal concerns raised by neighbors.

The fire was reported just before 8am in the 100 block of Hurds River Ranch Lane.

The Chelan Douglas Port Authority presented plans this week for a nearly $17 million cooling water site that would sit less than a mile from the data centers.

The commissioners say the move will not require voter approval and contend it would only be legitimate if approved by voters in both counties.

The county maintains roads in unincorporated areas which includes populated towns such as Monitor, Malaga and Manson

The Chelan County Hearing Examiner has approved construction of an electrical utility switchyard and four water tanks to support the building complex.

Improvements are planned for a shoreline area on the Columbia River that would serve the roughly 5,000 people who live in the Malaga area.

The single biggest noticeable change with the increase in funding has been the addition of Sunday service.

The Port is paying $2.25 million for about 100 acres of land south of the Malaga Alcoa Highway.
