Fire at Wenatchee vacant lot spreads to vehicles, causing significant damage but no injuries reported.

The grounds of the Rescue Mission are being used for 43 small Pallet Shelters that'll provide low barrier housing for homeless people.

A total of 44 pallet shelters will occupy space on the grounds of the Wenatchee Rescue Mission at 1450 S. Wenatchee Ave.

The county has contracted the service to other agencies in the past but will now bring the process in-house.

Community Development Director Glen DeVries shared that the initial delivery date was pushed from April to July.

It is highly recommended that those who are unhoused try calling 211 for emergency shelter rather than try and face weather conditions.

This would increase the total contract cost to $2,090,554.36, from the original cost of $1,529,127.29, and extended it into Dec. 2024.

The council unanimously approved two new laws pertaining RV parking, or any occupant living in their vehicle/trailer.
