The Employment Security Department released its weekly unemployment data Thursday for the week of February 28th through March 6th.

Chelan County's first time unemployment claims fell by 14% as compared to the week previous, while Douglas County doubled that success with a 28% drop. Grant County saw an 11% reduction and Okanogan saw 63 initial unemployment claims, the same number as last week.

Statewide claims were down 9.2% from the week before. Decreases in layoffs in construction led the overall drop in regular initial claims.
