Wenatchee police arrested a man Friday night after an investigation was launched in August when a woman reported the discovery of video recordings of herself unconscious, being sexually assaulted on his phone.

"On August 3rd, Wenatchee Police Department was made aware of a potential ongoing sexual assault situation that was happening out in the north end of Wenatchee when a victim called and reported they had discovered images of themselves, being involved in sexual contact they were unaware of on what turned out to be our defendant's phone when she was using the phone," said Captain Edgar Reinfeld.

Investigators did a forensic data dump on the defendant's phone and the outcome revealed eight different incidents. Several of the incidents occurred in Wenatchee, one in Cashmere and another in a currently undisclosed area.

"So the outcome was an arrest of Steven A. Tibbetts, 54, of Wenatchee for eight counts of rape second degree and he was booked in Chelan County Regional Justice Center," said Captain Reinfeld.
