Wenatchee Valley College (WVC) will hold two Stand Against Racism events this week that will both end in participants taking to the streets.

Diversity and Equity Coordinator Marichuy Alvizar said the 7th-annual Stand Against Racism event is a way to bring awareness to both the campus and community.

"So every year we have a national theme that we use to plan and organize our presenters and speakers. This year our national theme is 'We Can't Wait: Equity and Justice Now!'"

There will be presentations and discussions on the issues of critical race theory, reproductive justice, living wage and representation in film and television.

The Wenatchee event will be held around the WVC fountain from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm Tuesday. Those interested in marching are asked to meet at the YMCA thrift store on Wenatchee Avenue. The march will start around 4:00 pm and will end right back at the thrift store for an afterparty.

The Omak event will be held at the Omak Campus Native Garden from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm Wednesday. The Omak march will run from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm at the Omak park.

Both events are free and open to the public.
