Power demands from increasing growth in the Lake Chelan area are driving Chelan County PUD's plans to build a new substation. Its been over 30 years since the last one was built and capacity is now at 80 percent. PUD officials met with area residents last night to discuss possible facility siting plans on the Lake's North Shore between Chelan and Manson. PUD spokeswoman, Teka Sellers says they're hoping to finalize the plans this summer.
