The city of Wenatchee has operated the Community Center, located at 504 South Chelan Ave., since 2006 and is ready to hand the reins over to a qualified service provider. The request for qualification statements was opened in late August and the deadline for the submissions is right around the corner, closing on October 30.

"So what we're looking for is to find qualified organizations that would like to take over the operation and the management of the community center," said David Erickson, parks and recreation director.

Currently there are six or seven entities that use the facility.

"So different groups [that use the facility]. Everything from Red Cross blood drives to food bank that operates out of there, veterans operate out of there, literacy council," said Erickson.

The deadline for sealed submittals is 2 p.m. on October 30 to be sent to the city of Wenatchee Parks and Recreation department.

"Basically we would hand them the keys and say 'okay, it's yours'," said Erickson.
