The Wenatchee Police officer involved in the July 27th shooting in the Albertson’s parking lot, has been identified as Officer Albert Gonzalez.

Captain Edgar Reinfeld with the Wenatchee PD says Officer Albert Gonzalez remains on administrative leave while the North Central Washington Special Investigations Unit combs through video evidence.

Officer Gonzalez has been a Wenatchee Police Officer for two years and has four total years of experience as a law enforcement officer in the State of Washington. He is assigned to the Patrol Division and is a Drug Recognition Expert and Emergency Vehicle Operations Course instructor. Officer Gonzalez has been recognized for life-saving CPR in the field and also as the top DUI and Traffic Officer for the Wenatchee Police Department.

The Special Unit has nearly completed interviews with all identified witnesses. An autopsy of suspect Matthew Folden was conducted on August 1st and confirmed his death was the result of gunshot wounds. Laboratory results are pending and some items, including toxicology, may take several weeks to complete.
