Double Fatality Accident on US97

Two people are have died after their pickup truck was hit by a on highway 97 Thursday afternoon.   The accident was reported about 1:30pm and closed the highway for several hours at Cameron Lake Road north of Okanogan. The road was reopened shortly before 8pm Thursday

The state patrol has not released the names of the victims.  The incident report shows the driver of a pickup failed to yield the right of way and tried to cross the highway from Armory Access Road in front of the southbound semi.  One of the victims was dead at the scene and the second vitim died at Mid-Valley Hospital in Omak.

The truck driver, 77 year old Calvin Anderson of Waterville was not injured
