Chelan PUD is hosting two Open Houses this week to share plans for the new 26 acre recreation area along the Columbia River shoreline south of the Odabashian Bridge. The site is on the Douglas County side of the river and includes sand dunes and is adjacent to the Apple Capital Loop Trail.  It does not include the actual shoreline which is under ownership of Department of Natural Resources but access to a beach popular with boaters will be provided.

Jeff Osborn License Compliance Manager for Chelan PUD says the public's input will be taken on two conceptual design options for riverfront access trails, ADA compliance and restrooms.  Chelan PUD will also reveal 5 suggestions the public will vote on as a future name.   The input is important feedback on public support of the project and will be included in the application to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for re-licensing of the Rock Island Hydro Project.

The Open Houses are from 6 to 7:30pm on Wednesday, Feb. 15th at Chelan PUD Auditorium in Wenatchee and Thursday, Feb.16th at Douglas County Public Service Building on 19th Street in East Wenatchee.
