It's been a busy year for search and rescue teams in Chelan County.

Sgt. Kent Sisson says they usually average between 45 and 55 for an entire year, but they are already approaching 45 by mid-August.

"It's related to COVID because people are not taking their normal flying vacations to places. A lot of people are camping, hiking, recreating out in the wilderness."

Sisson says this is the case all across the state with exponentially more people at local trails and other outdoor activities with the limitations on traveling.
