The search for a Nespelem man who went missing during a kayaking trip continues, with Grant County Sheriff's deputies hunting for information by ground and by air.

51-year-old Kelly Dean Burkhart was last seen September 27th kayaking north from the east shore of banks, about 10 miles north of Coulee City. The water became choppy from high winds, and Burkhart was eventually reported missing.

Two days later, deputies found his kayak and life jacket on the lake's west shore.

"We are concerned because we have not yet found Kelly Burkhart. So we want to make sure that the public is aware that Kelley Burkhart is missing. However we will continue to search Banks Lake because the evidence suggests Burkhart may still be at or in Banks Lake."

Anyone with information is asked to call the Grant County Sheriff's Office at 509-762-1160.
