The Chelan County Sheriff's Office says the man missing and presumed drowned in Lake Chelan is a 23 year old University of Washington student from South Korea, Donghoon Lee of Seattle.

Chelan County Marine Deputies responded to calls of a possible drowning in the area known as “Three Fingers” on Tuesday about 3:30pm.  Lee was with a group of friends swimming off the back of a rental boat when he disappeared in the middle of the lake in approximately 30-40 feet of water.

The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office rescue response included multiple vessels rescue swimmers from Chelan Fire but they were unable to locate Lee.  The search was suspended at 8:30 Tuesday night.

Lee is presumed drowned and a recovery effort was scheduled for 10am Wednesday.  Chelan County Sheriff’s Office Marine Division, two divers from Chelan County, and seven to eight volunteer divers from Steven’s County along with underwater camera equipment from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office will conduct a recovery mission
