SR971 Reopens, Rock Slide Cleared on Friday

SR 971 is now open from milepost 9 to milepost 11, five miles west of Chelan on the south shore of Lake Chelan.

The roadway was blocked by a rock slide March 8th.  A contractor had to scale some material away from the cliff to prevent additional slides before Department of Transportaion maintenance crews could clear the roadway.  Larger boulders were blasted to ease removal but the WSDOT crews met their goal to reopen by 5pm on Friday.

Residents uplake of the slide were detoured around the closure on SR971 through Navarre Coulee Road
